CUSTOM DESIGN — THE DESIGN PROCESS
Designing a custom piece of jewelry with Leber Jeweler Inc begins with a consultation. An in-store appointment is optimal, but email and phone conversations will work just as well. If you have pictures or rough ideas of things you like, we can use them as a springboard to develop an initial design. While we will not duplicate another design since that would be unethical and compromise our respect for the design integrity of others, we can use the images of pieces you may have seen as a style direction.
Working within your stated budget, we can guide you with the selection of materials. If stones are involved, the selection of the major stones are critical to the overall design of the piece. After narrowing down colors, shapes, and sizes, we offer various options.
First, we sketch out detailed drawings. These are drawn to scale so that you can visualize the stone sizes and design elements in relationship to your finger size (in the case of a ring).
Oftentimes we will render several design options with top, side, and front views of the jewelry. We ask for a non-refundable deposit for additional sketches beyond the initial round. If you go forward with the fabrication of the item, your deposit will be credited to the purchase price. |
After approval of the design, we proceed with the fabrication of the jewelry. To begin this process, we require a 50% deposit to proceed. Most pieces require a wax model created to the specifications defined by the drawings. |
A casting is created from the wax using 18 karat yellow gold, 18 karat palladium white gold, or 950 platinum. |
The rough casting is filed and pre-finished, stones are carefully set, the piece is given a final polish, cleaned, and inspected. Then your item is placed in our Leber Jeweler presentation box ready for the lucky recipient! |
All pieces are hand-fabricated by our expert craftspeople and are constructed using reclaimed and re-refined 18k gold or platinum.
