In 1921 a Czechoslovakian immigrant named Frank Leber opened a jewelry store on the southwest side of Chicago. For forty-five years, Leber Jeweler flourished under his guidance, earning the loyalty of a devoted clientele in the West Village/Pilsen neighborhood. Myron Leber took over his father's business in 1966 and continued the emphasis on serving the community.

When their customer base spread west to the Chicago suburbs, the Leber family followed, opening Leber Limited in La Grange Park in 1970. Myron Leber continued to emphasize his father's principles of honesty toward customers and thorough knowledge of gemstones and jewelry.

Brian Leber, the grandson of Frank, and his wife Joanne purchased the store upon his father's retirement. In 1999, Leber Jeweler Inc opened its doors in Western Springs, Illinois, continuing the family tradition of offering thorough technical knowledge and integrity in an increasingly complex industry.

In 2008, recognizing that a Chicago location would be more convenient to their clientele, they moved the store to the River North neighborhood just west of the Magnificent Mile.

The couple's University degrees in Art and Design, Brian's experience as a Bench Jeweler, and numerous Gemological Institute of America and American Gem Society certificates, enable them to provide their clients with thorough service.

As lifelong advocates for human rights and environmental issues, Joanne and Brian work endlessly, both independently and with outside organizations, to improve and uphold ethical standards within the jewelry industry and to educate the public. Through several published pieces as well as speaking engagements, Brian actively encourages all members of the jewelry trade and their clients to embrace these very important issues.

In 2004, spurred by the desperate situation in Burma and our industry's historical reliance on this country's gemstone resources, Leber Jeweler Inc founded the Jewelers' Burma Relief Project. This humanitarian effort, working in conjunction with Foundation for the People of Burma and Planet Care, offers aid directly to the people of Burma.
