About the Designers
Joanne and Brian Leber are craftspeople who combine technical expertise, classic yet minimalist styling, and social consciousness in their unique jewelry designs. Melding their knowledge and formal training in gemstones, jewelry making, art, and music, they create heirloom pieces that are wearable and beautiful.
Earthwise Jewelry® is the first collection of its kind made with recycled precious metals and gemstones that are mined responsibly and traded fairly. Since 2001, it has been the premier responsibly produced fine jewelry line.
In addition to his college degree, Brian was certified by the American Gem Society and the Gemological Institute of America, learning the craft of fine jewelry making through a tradition passed down from his father and grandfather. Considered an industry expert on social responsibility and ethics, Brian is quoted widely in the national and international media. He has testified before the US Congress and spoken extensively on human rights and environmental issues related to the jewelry trade.
Joanne received her degrees in Fine Art and Design. A practicing fine artist, she uses her talents to design and hand sketch jewelry for Leber Jeweler Inc's regular collection in addition to their custom design work. She is a lifelong advocate for human rights and environmental issues, serving as both board member and active supporter of a host of organizations.
The couple works endlessly, independently and with outside organizations, to improve and uphold ethical standards within the jewelry industry and to educate the public.
